James- Floyd Engagement

Patty James announces the engagement of her daughter Rachel Lynn James of Marion, currently living in Maumelle, to John Tyler Floyd of Nashville, also currently living in Maumelle.

The bride-elect is the daughter of the late Jimmy James, granddaughter of Christine James of Forrest City and the late Gene James and the granddaughter of Grover and Grace Hougland of Indianapolis, Indiana.

She was the 2010 Valedictorian of Marion High School and graduated from Harding University with a BSN in nursing in 2014. She made medical mission trips to Guatemala and Nicaragua.

Rachel was in a Breakthrough to Nursing Chair at Harding Student Nursing Association and recognized and published at the National Convention for the National Student Nursing Association. She is a surgical ICU RN at VA Hospital in Little Rock.

The prospective groom is the son of Bobby and Becky Floyd of Nashville.

His grandparents are the late C. W. (Big John) and June Floyd, the late Alvis R. Sides, and the late Ray and Joyce McCommas.

He was the Valedictorian of Nashville High School in 2007. He was a 2011 Honor Graduate of University of Central Arkansas Honors College with a BS in Health Sciences with Physical Therapy Emphasis. He was a 2014 graduate of the University of Central Arkansas with a Doctor of Physical Therapy and is current pursuing a PhD in Physical Therapy. He will begin his dissertation this fall. He was a Phi Lambda Chi vice president and academic chair. He was in Who’s Who Among American Colleges and Universities and Alpha Chi Honor Society.

Tyler is a physical therapist at CHI St.

Vincent Rehabilitation Hospital in Sherwood and Saline Memorial Hospital in Benton.

The wedding is scheduled for August 6, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Missouri Street Church of Christ in West Memphis.
