Scouts Honor

Local troops pay tribute to those who served for Memorial Day

news@theeveningtimes.com

Marion Scout Troop 72 and Cub Scout Pack 172 joined with their families and other supporters in placing flags on veterans’ graves at Crittenden Memorial Park in advance of Memorial Day.

Scouts renewed their annual efforts to solemnly honor and remember those who served with a flag at each veteran’s headstone.

The boys and other volunteers covered the entire cemetery for the first time, thanks to a donation of 200 flags.

The scouts wish to freshen up the display and retire some of the older flags next year. The American-made flags cost just under one dollar each. Designated donations for the project may be made through the VFW Post 5225 in West Memphis or directly to the Scout Troop.
