Summer fun at the Earle Library

Earle, Edmondson branches supporting kids in June

ralphhardin@gmail.com Beginning June 7, and lasting all month long, the Earle Public Library will be hosting a special summer activities program.

“This is something we wanted to do to help the kids stay busy and stay out of trouble this summer,” said Earle Librarian P.J.

Taylor. “They can just come and spend some time with us.

From noon until 2 p.m., local kids can get in on the fun, with a number of activities planned, including free snacks.

“Everything is free, but their parents will need to register them,” said Taylor.

“We don’t want them to just drop them off. We need to know who’s there.”

In addition to snack time, kids will enjoy a group book reading, with an open discussion session. They’ll hear book reports on popular summer reads. And there will be plenty of games.

“We’ll be playing kickball, jump-rope,” said Taylor. “We’ll be singing and working puzzles — coloring pictures. There will be

so much going on.”

The Earle Library is located at 703 Commerce St.

Taylor said the Edmondson Library will be running a similar program.

“It’s just like ours, but it’s in Edmondson,” she said.

“We want those children to have something to do, too.” The Edmondson branch is located at 61 Waterford St.
