Ok. It’s 6 PM on Monday Dec.,. 31st and NO PAPER DELIVERED!!! Same thing happened Friday, called Mr.
Miller who gave me Mr. David, the carrier’s number to call. Called him, went straight to voice mail, left message, no response but paper was here by 6PM that night. I am 28 yr subscriber of paper, inhome care giver of spouse, and I don’t have time to sit and make phone calls and watch for paper then call supervisor back with report on deliverer!!! I shouldn’t have to do all this to get my paper, REALLY??????? Do not tell me to subscribe to online cause don’t have computer and am not gonna take up all that memory on my phone.
Maybe if the deliverer would stop picking up nonworking appliances on the curb, he might actually get his papers delivered, sure you have seen his truck bed loaded with them, I have!!! Happy New Year, I won't be complaining anymore, thinking my mind has told me what I need to do.
[Editor’s Note: This is completely unacceptable, and all I can really do on this end is offer our apologies. I have given your address and complaint to the circulation department, and I would like to assure all our readers that management is very aware of the problems we have been having recently with the quality of our delivery, and it is something that for which we are looking at possible solutions. We need every single reader and subscriber we can get if we are going to survive in this age where it seems most folks would rather listen to rumors on Facebook than read actual news, so please don’t think we take these complaints lightly] Miami’s mayor makes 149,999, West Memphis is surely comparable. When are we getting our NFL and NBA team? [Editor’s Note: I don’t think we really want to go into a fact-checking deal here, but assuming you’re talking about Miami, Florida, the mayor there made $365,200 last year. If you want to do a more realistic comparison, the mayor of Russellville, which is similar in population and other demographics to West Memphis, makes $90,000 is salary plus incentives. And last I checked, they don’t have an NFL or NBA team either…]

Saw question about rates in wed paper. I paid 19.50 for 3 mths for 5 ea wk. You explained a few mths ago it would be about 5 mths for 3 ea wk,. No one you talk to out there seems to know 5 mths later. Why was the page 4 rate not changed. Have people forgot.
[Editor’s Note: Fm not sure what you 're saying, or asking, here. We’ve only been doing the three-print-editions- per-week format for four months as of yesterday, so I’m not sure what you’re getting at. I'm really not trying to be snarky here… what is it you would like to make clear?]
The voters of WM did not vote…I was very disappointed in the turn out… [Editor’s Note: Well, while you are certainly within your rights to be disappointed, surely you were not surprised. Voter turnout has always been low around here, at least in my lifetime, so to expect folks to suddenly feel it necessary to exercise their civic duty would be a little naive. Yes, you might be led to think that the future of our community might actually spur people to action, but apparently that’s only important to about 30 percent of the people who live in West Memphis] People are talking of all groups., just think how many years people of color had no choice but to vote for the other color…Times are changing…
WM will not burn down…the last year’s WM was not a bed of roses..we are known for being one of the worst places to live…we still should be thankful!!! [Editor’s Note: Fm still a little bummed that what the election really came down to was skin color, but I guess that’s where we are. I’ve said it before and I’ll gladly say it again… I don’t think McClendon was the best candidate for the job but I wish him all the success in the world now that he’s in office] What happened to Walter E.
William’s column “A Minority View?” It hasn’t been in the last two mid-week editions.
The last one appeared in the edition on Wed. Dec. 19. I seem to remember that sometime in the past someone texted in that they were offended by Mr. Williams views. Has the decision been made by the paper to discontinue this column based on some one person being “offended?”
[Editor’s Note: People have been getting offended by Mr.
Williams’s column since before I was editor, so we’re not getting rid of him any time soon. No, the holidays had an effect on our columnists getting their columns to us, so I had to jumble up the order according to our print schedule. You might have noticed similar deals with Senator Ingram's column or some of our editorials. In any event, Mr.
Williams had his weekly offerings in the online editions on both the Christmas and New Year’s weeks, so if you’re a subscriber, you can find them online in the e-edition tab at www.theeveningtimes.com [
