MHS Super Donors
From top: Jacob Bell, Riley Barnes and Taylor Shields were super heroes and super donors during a recent HOSA Lifeblood drive at Marion High School. The trio was apheresis donors, a process that separates the blood donation and results in two complete units of red blood cells. Red blood cells are especially needed for treatment of cancer patients, sickle cell patients, leukemia and other chronic diseases as well as accident victims require red blood cells for treatment and/or surgery and even during recovery. Apheresis makes red blood cells, plasma and platelets more quickly and readily available in more abundant numbers. Bell and Barnes are veteran apheresis donors. It was Shields first time as donating for the procedure.
