Edward “Rusty” Louis Herring, II, 67, of Marion passed away at home Monday, Nov. 21, 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Verda Herring.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Wilma Herring of Marion; his two daughters, Jennifer Herring Owen (Brent) of Marion and Julie Herring of Marion; five grandchildren, Kayla Herring, Lauren McKay, Kayden Herring, Mason Owen, Corbin Eli Dennis; and two sisters, Sheryl Lucas (Russell) of Bonham, Texas and Linda Trop of McKinney, Texas.

Visitation will be on Friday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Roller Citizens Funeral Home.

Services will be on Saturday, at 11 a.m. at Roller Citizens Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion.

Percy “Hoop” Hooper

Retired Lieutenant Percy “Hoop” Hooper, 80, of West Memphis, died on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016, in his home.

“Hoop” will be remembered by numerous friends and family members at a Memorial Service on Saturday, Nov. 26, 11 a.m. in the West Memphis Civic Auditorium, 228 W.

Polk, West Memphis. “Hoop” was born, raised and educated in Detroit, Michigan. After graduation, he served four years in the United States Air Force as a Military Police Officer, he then spent twelve years with the Detroit Police Department and another five years with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, before finally becoming a police officer in West Memphis in 1984.

“Hoop” retired from the West Memphis Police Department in 1999. Even still, he continued to serve his community by dedicating his time to the West Memphis School System as a substitute teacher. He was also known for volunteering his time to several youth organizations in the city of West Memphis and surrounding areas. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mikii Hooper; his parents and two brothers. He is survived by his daughter, Anita Lewis of West Memphis; a granddaughter; a great grandson; and his many God daughters and sons, family, friends and mentees.
