West Memphis gaming and racing facility celebrates six decades in business

Southland Park Gaming & Racing Southland Park Gaming & Racing celebrated its 60th birthday today with a cakecutting ceremony, a hot seat promotion rewarding active players with free play and an exciting overall atmosphere.

The festivities, held at Southland Park, were led by President and General Manager Troy Keeping with a special appearance by “Sammy Hagarrr”. The fun included a giant birthday cake modeled after Southland Park that was produced by in-house pastry chef Eddie McGee to commence the celebration.

“We're incredibly excited and humbled to be celebrating 60 years of providing top-notch entertainment to generations of Mid-Southerners,” said Keeping.

“We're so thankful for our guests and strive to provide special experiences for the next 60 years as well.”

One of the premier entertainment destinations in the Mid-South, Southland Park opened its doors on Sept. 7, 1956, as primarily a greyhound racing facility and the only gambling venue in the region.

Fast-forward 60 years and Southland Park still boasts some of the best greyhound racing in the entire country, but has also added gaming machines, exquisite dining options and event space to become one of the region's fastest-growing and soughtafter

entertainment locations.
