Is my blue your blue?

We all agree on things like “The sky is blue” or “The grass is green” or “Stop signs are red” and such.
But have you ever wondered if what I interpret as “blue” in my eyes is the same as what your eyes say “blue” is? I don’t guess it really matters since the only person who will ever see the sky or the grass or a stop sign with my eyes is me.
But it is an interesting thing to think about. And there’s a web site out there that lets you take that thought just a little bit further. It’s called ismy.blue. Yeah, it looks a little weird all smooshed together like that, but you can type that directly into the browser or just Google “is my blue your blue” and it will be the top option in the search results.
If you go to the site, the “test” is very simple. You don’t have to give them any personal information whatsoever, not even your

name. You just are shown a colored square and are given the choice to click on a tab that says “This is green” or one that says “This is blue.”
That’s it. There are seven different colored squares and then you get the results.
Again, you don’t have to offer your email address and there are no pop-up ads. You just get a number and a little information. For example, my “hue boundary” was a 166, which means that I see “greener” than 90% of the population and my eyes interpret turquoise as a “blue” hue. What can I do with this informantion? Probably not much of anything but it’s fun to know. Kind of like those debates from a few years ago about whether that dress was white or blue or whether those shoes were gray or pink.
And bonus… no politics!
