Managing only 20 first-half points on 0-for-11 shooting from the three-point arc, the Greyhounds found themselves in a hole they couldn't dig out of in a 6857 loss to the Mineral Area College Cardinals in the first round of the Bob Sechrest Classic in Park Hills, Missouri.

Despite outscoring the home team in the second half, the 35-20 halftime deficit was too much to overcome as ASU Mid-South could get no closer than 8 points in the second frame, ending up shooting just 2-of-18 (11.1%) from the three-point line for the game.

The Greyhounds shot 40.0% from the field and a respectable 71.4% from the free throw line and were even in rebounds and turnovers, but the Cardinals shot an outstanding 6-of-13 (46.2%) from the arc and 48.9% from the field to finish out the win.

Braxtyn McCuien led the Greyhounds with 16 points and 5 rebounds while Jailen Anderson scored 10 points and dished out 5 assists. Christian Thompson also pulled down 5 rebounds and registered 4 assists to go with 7 points, and Jesse Washington chipped in 7 points as well.
