Special to the Times West Memphis golfer Braden Jones recently finished in the top division of a notable regional youth tournament in Millington, Tenn.

Jones, who in June won the SSJ Delta Youth Tournament at Meadowbrook Country Club, placed in a tie for fifth place last week in the Notah Begay Regional Qualifier at Orgill Park.

Jones shot 2-under 69 in the first round and then followed that up with a 70 on the final day of competition. Tied with Jones for the fifth spot was Drew Wilson of Potts Camp, Mississippi. Forty-eight golfers from the Southern Region competed in the tournament. The 16-year-old West Memphian competed against players one and two years older than him.

Jones, the son of David and Angie Jones of West Memphis, is a student at West Memphis Christian School.
