State sets April 30 deadline for LIHEAP funding

news@theeveningtimes.com An April 30 deadline to apply for Low Income Housing Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) has been set by the state.

Crowley's Ridge Development Council (CRDC) announced the end of the spring funding campaign and urged those needing help to pay energy bills for financial assistance. As many as 10 percent of utility customers in the county were 30 days or more overdue. LIHEAP scheduled assistance through the end of the month for households qualifying based on income and household size.

The CRDC offered two types of assistance through April 30. Crisis assistance remained available until the deadline for a one-time benefit per household per spring program not to exceed $500 for those facing a shut-off notice.

Regular assistance remained available through the end of April for qualified applicants for a one time utility payment.

For more information call the Crittenden County office at (870) 253-3050 or online at LIHEAPIN-FO@ CRDCNEA.com.
