School going virtual after student, staff positive cases

ralphhardin@gmail.com For the second time in a month, a county school is closed due to the coronavirus after the Marion School District announced multiple cases of COVID19 in students and staff at Marion Junior High School.

On Tuesday, the district announced two student-athletes involved with the Marion Junior High School football team tested positive for the virus. Three virtual students who had no contact with anyone on campus also tested positive, and one staff member tested positive.

That evening, an additional staff member and one student tested positive with the 8th and 9th grade building, according to a release from the district.

Close contacts have been notified and are following quarantine guidelines from the Arkansas Department of Health. MJHS will remain closed for the remainder of the week as a precaution and to sanitize the facility.

Last month, Earle Elementary was closed for two weeks after two teachers tested positive. The school has since reopened.
