Knights get on the board in tough loss

news@theeveningtimes.com The Black Knights of West Memphis Christian School scored their first points of the season in a home loss to DeSoto Academy. Senior Austin LaRue grabbed a third quarter pass and ran for twenty yards to the end zone for the touchdown.

The play provided the highlight of the year for the team.

Ultimately, the Black Knights lost in a blowout with the mercy clock running the entire second half.

The Black Knights yielded five turnovers leading to DeSoto Academy scores.

The visitors won 66-8, calling a time out to squeeze in an extra touchdown to end the contest. DeSoto Academy worked with a short field the entire game scooping three fumbles and two interceptions leading to more than half its point total.

The players from both squads kept it clean in a penalty free game.

The Black Knights produced a healthy six yards per carry but managed just three yard passing per passing play. The home team ran twice as many plays from scrimmage but DeSoto Academy picked up more than 20 yards per run.

While the adage for defense goes three and out, the Ambassadors offense scored 'three and in' winning the route without a first down.

The team travels next this Friday to Lee Academy before the Knights return home Sept. 25 for Homecoming festivities.
