Patriot football, volleyball squads back on campus after 3month hiatus

ralphhardin@gmail.com With all sports activities in high schools across the state and much of the nation suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Marion Patriots’ athletic facilities have been vacant for nearly three months.

Until now.

On Monday, members of the Marion football and volleyball teams were back on campus taking part in their first on-site workouts since early March. The Patriots football squad took to the field house for some weight training and socially- distant exercises. Across Herbert Carter Drive, over at the Patriot Arena, the Lady Patriots volleyball team worked out in the concourse area, which allowed the girls to get their reps in while following the governor’s COVID19 guidelines for student athletic activities.

The Arkansas Activities Associaition is monitoring the pandemic as it works to plan out a course of action for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year and what steps to take in regard to summer and fall sports.
