I read in a recent online news article that 97% of students were learning at home. This should have realistically read 97% of students were at home. They were not all learning or even studying. I doubt that any teacher, even in the best of classes, could claim that only 1 in 30 students wasn't learning or even paying attention. I wouldn't make that claim myself as a retired teacher. Perhaps the best answer is to close all schools and only have home schooling as the parents know everything about teaching and are so good at it. [ Editor’s Note: Now, I won’t say that “ distance learning” is impossible.

There are thousands of students who take online courses, especially at the college level, and those seem to work out just fine.

What you’re running into right now is, to quote West Memphis superintendent Jon Collins, schools who are developing online and alternative methods of instruction are like they are “ trying to learn how to build an airplane while you’re flying it.” There has never been a case where schools nationwide were closed basically immediately and without notice for such a long period of time.

It seems toward the end of your text you were being sarcastic, but I think we’re looking at the very real possibility that schools will still be operating “ closed campus”

*** It is interesting to hear that Korean Leader Kim Jong-un has been seen at a fertilizer factory as the stories of his possible death had a smell of horse manure. [ Editor’s Note: What a weird story that turned out to be. I wonder now if the word of his impending death was just wishful thinking? ( Yes, I know it’s not especially cool to be hopeful of someone’s demise, but most everyone agrees Kim Jong- un is a terrible person and a murdering dictator, right?) So, he’s apparently alive, but clearly his health is an issue. It will be interesting to see when he finally does pass away what changes, if any, we might see from the North Korean government.

It looked like his sister was poised to take the reins if he had indeed died. I know next to nothing about her but it would be interesting to see how the nation and its people would respond to a female dictator. You don’t see many of those]
