Thank you for providing all of the unbiased information about the Marion school calendar proposals. While I think the HYBRID calendar is OK I think the start times will be a problem for a lot of parents. Just my 2 cents [Editor’s Note: Ultimately, I think your way of thinking was what most folks also ended up with. As you probably saw on today’s front page, in case you hadn’t already heard, that’s exactly what ended up being the consensus.

The hybrid calendar was adopted for the 2020-2021 school year, while the proposal for the staggered start times was not] I would like to know why Mike Bloomburg’s bus stopped at the high school! First of all the Principal and the school Superintendent should have never let that happen. It’s ok if the mayor supports him. It was obvious that Mike Bloomburg didn’t think enough of him to get out of the bus in front of the students to have his picture made with them.

I bet more than half of the students didn’t even know who he was. This is not a public forum for political campaigning.

The Mayor is responsible for this and should be held accountable.

It doesn’t matter what candidate or political party you support. Did the principal, superintendent and school board know he was going to stop at the campus. Most of these kids can’t even vote for him, so why did he stop there. [Editor’s Note: Back when I was a school teacher, one of the principals I worked for referred to our jobs as “stamping out ignorance.” It’s a phrase I always liked and I’m going to put it to practice here. First things first…

I’m no fan of the candidate in question, so I’m not campaigning for him in the least. Anyway, if you’re going to make remarks “half of the students didn’t even know who he was,”you lose the high ground by misspelling his name. It’s Mike Bloomberg not “Bloomburg”… and while we’re at it, he “didn’t think enough of the mayor to get out of the bus” because Mr. Bloomberg was not on the bus. The “Get It Done Express” is the Bloomberg presidential campaign’s tour bus but Bloomberg himself rarely rides it. It’s staffed by his campaign team. I really don’t get where all this backlash is about this bus. Political campaigns have always stopped at schools. I mean, like, always. Where were you when Dr. Ben Carson spoke at Lehr Arena in 2016? Bill Clinton visited Marion High School in 1992. Just Google “presidential candidate speaks at school” and you’ll get thousands of results.

Just because you don’t like a candidate or his party doesn’t mean it was wrong that their campaign showed up somewhere. I would think it would be an honor that a presidential campaign showed up here at all.

But that’s just me and the first amendment talking] It seems like we are getting a socialist for our Democratic candidate.

I guess that means four more years of TR UMP and his YUGE ideas, the best ideas EVER. What a sorry state our country is in. [Editor’s Note: I don’t know ifBernie is s shoe-in just yet. There has only been one caucus and one primary. Get back to me on March 4th, after Super Tuesday. I think it’s still a pretty wide-open affair. But no matter who wins the Democratic nomination, I really think he or she is going to have his or her hands full trying to defeat Trump. Whether you like him or not (I personally do not), he’s looking like he’s pretty bulletproof coming off that joke of an impeachment]

Loving the look at the WMPD. Good job guys and gals! [Editor’s Note: I have also enjoyed reading along with our readers about the West Memphis Police Department and all of its many moving parts. I really respect everything they and all of our local law enforcement agencies do day in and day out, so thanks for following along and thanks for sending this in]
