Special ceremony this weekend for local sorority chapter By Patricia Turner

Special to the Times The local Pi Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., will celebrate the organization’s 112th International Founders’ Day on Sunday, Feb. 23, beginning at 3 p.m. at Bethel A.M.E. Church at 2403 E. Barton, in West Memphis. The Theme of the program is “Preserving and Cultivating our Pearls”.

Guest speaker for the program will be Mrs.

Brigid Roberson, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. International Membership Intake Process Committee Member, of Houston, Texas Mrs. Roberson is a history maker with the largest not-forprofi t health system in Southeast Texas, where she is currently the first woman to hold the Director of Security Services position with the Memorial Hermann Healthcare System.

Prior to this role she served as the Director of Security for a major oil company.

Mrs. Roberson received a Bachelor’s Degree in Speech Communications and a minor in Business from Texas State University.

She holds a Master’s Degree, with Magna Cum Laude honors in Security Management for Executives from the University of Houston Downtown. She is presently a doctoral candidate, studying Interdisciplinary Leadership at Creighton University.

Currently, she serves as a member of the Texas Medical Center Security Advisory Board, International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety, American Society for Industrial Security, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, The Links, Incorporated, NAACP, Higher Heights, and the National Organization for Women.

The Founders’ Day Program will be highlighted by recognizing and honoring Outstanding Educators in Crittenden County.

A reception will follow the program. All other area Greek organizations as well as the general public are invited to attend.

The program Chairman is Mrs. Sharonda Robinson Hinton.

Other Committee Members are Mrs.

Emma Milliner Robinson, Co-Chairman, Mrs. Clara Barr-Ferron, Mrs. Shirley Patton Brown, Mrs. Gwendolyn Freeman, Mrs.

Claudie Forrest, Mrs. Pamela Harper-Roberts, Mrs. Annette Johnson, Mrs. LaShondra Miller, Mrs. Bobbie Owens Nelson, and Mrs. Patricia Turner.

The local Chapter President is Mrs. Carolyn Anthony.
