Itawamba Community College (Mississippi) shot season-highs from the three-point line and free throw line and got a career-high 33 points from Ma’Darius Hobson to take a 73-61 victory Monday in Fulton, Mississippi.

The Greyhounds couldn’t do anything with Hobson as he seemed to be in “the zone,” shooting 13for-19 from the field, 2-for-2 from the threepoint line and 5-for-5 from the free throw line despite being 1-for-10 from the arc for the season entering the game. Hobbs also finished with teamhighs in rebounds (10), assists (5), and steals (5). Brandon Brown also was one point away from his season- high with 18 points to go with 10 rebounds.

Rance Champ and Tyler Smith finished with 10 points each as just four Indians scored 71 of their 73 points.

The Greyhounds had battled back from a 10-point halftime deficit, and Ike Moore hit a three-pointer with 5:08 left to cut the lead to three points, 61-58.

But the Greyhounds then went cold from the field and the Indians’ Rance Champ hit 2 three-pointers in a row, the second one with 1:42 remaining, to ice the game.

The Indians nearly doubled their 28.0% three-point shooting and shot a season-high 50% (6-of-12) from the arc. And in addition to shooting 52.0% from the field, they also shot a season high 93.8% (15-of-16) from the free throw line after entering the game shooting just 66.8% on the season. Itawamba also won the battle of the boards, 34-25, and forced 19 Greyhound turnovers.

For ASU Mid-South, Ike Moore was the only Greyhound in double- figures, finishing with 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Christian White pulled down 7 rebounds and the Greyhounds finished with a season-low 10 assists for the game while shooting an abysmal 26.3% from the threepoint line. The road-weary Greyhounds will finally return to The Dog House Saturday for their first home game of 2020 against Region 2 opponent SAU Tech. Tip off time is set for 4 p.m., following the women’s game.
