The Jonesboro Police Department, with the help of the U.S. Marshals East Arkansas Fugitive Task Force, Arkansas State Police, and the Crittenden County Sheriff’s Office, have captured a murder suspect wanted for a fatal shooting. At 2 a.m. Monday in Gilmore, in northern Crittenden County, according to Crittenden County Sheriff Mike Allen, law enforcement agents arrested Laquinton Lauderdale, 22, who had been a fugitive for nearly two weeks. Lauderdale is charged with the murder of Tiquan Wilson at the Haven Hotel in Jonesboro on New Year’s night.

Jonesboro Police Department said at the time of the murder Lauderdale was considered armed and dangerous.

Allen said Lauderdale was arrested without incident and transported back to Jonesboro where he was turned over to Jonesboro police.

Before the shooting, Jonesboro police told the media that they had fielded nearly 60 complaint calls since last February at the hotel located at 3006 S. Caraway Rd., in Jonesboro. Several of the calls dealt with drugs including marijuana, meth, and cocaine as well as drug paraphernalia, while other calls involved breaking or entering, criminal mischief, theft, and commercial burglary.

On Jan. 1, Jonesboro police responded to the Haven Hotel on South Caraway Road around 11:30 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Tiquan Wilson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to police. Wilson was transported to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Police said they found another victim with gunshot wounds in that shooting. That victim has not been identified. Lauderdale is in custody in the Craighead County Jail.
