One of the best seasons in Baylor Bears history ended with a 26-14 loss to 5th ranked Georgia at the Sugar Bowl. Baylor (11-3) tied for the most wins in program history, but lost their final two games and three of their last five after a 9-0 start.
Down by two late, Baylor quarterback Charlie Brewer suffered from a late hit out of bounds and had to leave the game with what appeared to be a head injury. Red-shirt freshmen backups Gerry Bohanon, a former standout with the Earle Bulldogs and Jacob Zeno, took over for the rest of the game, but the Bears could not come back against a tough Georgia team.
For Bohanon, the experience of playing in a high-profile bowl game caps a solid role-playing season. Bohanon scored his first college touchdowns of the year in limited play, throwing two passing TDs and rushing for three more in 2019.
