ARMOREL — Marybeth Byrd has sung her way into the Top 8 on NBC’s massively popular singing competition The Voice. Byrd performed for the last spot Monday night and got enough votes to get the instant save from fans on Tuesday’s results show.

In recent weeks, watch parties in her

hometown and other Arkansas locations where friends and family cheered her on have popped up, packed with “Byrd Watchers” the name viewers and fans have given to her supporters as the show has played out over the last several weeks.

The Armorel School District has turned their high school gym into a watch party venue every Monday night for The Voice live shows.

Byrd was a four-chair turn when she auditioned, singing “Angel from Montgomery” by Bonnie Raitt. Coach Blake Shelton was blocked from being picked by one of the judges, and Byrd said she had to go with her gut and picked John Legend as her coach.

Coming from Armorel, she never anticipated when she tried out for the TV show she would have such an amazing journey ahead of her.

“You know just being from such a small town, going to the big stage in L.A., it’s a really huge leap. But, I’m taking a leap of faith,” said Byrd. “It’s been an amazing experience that I wouldn’t trade for the world. I just want to tell all of my ‘Byrd Watchers’ thank you so much for all of the love and support. I cannot tell you how much it means to me. I could not do this without you guys.”

You can catch Marybeth Byrd on The Voice again as the contestants battle to make next week’s finale tonight at 7 p.m. on NBC.
