It’s almost tip-off time!

The ASU Mid-South Basketball program is reloaded and ready for action. With four starters returning, the Greyhounds men’s team has the experience to continue their winning ways when action starts up. First Team All-Region guard Jalen Lynn returns after leading the Greyhounds by averaging 17.5 points per game while shooting 38.3% from the three-point line and 83.5% from the free throw line.

The All-American candidate from Collierville, Tennessee, was second in the region in scoring last season while finishing in the top 30 in the nation for three-pointers made and free throw percentage.

A couple of other “hot dogs” to watch are Christian White and West Memphis native Zach Byrd return after averaging 10.6 and 8.9 points, respectively. White pulled down 7.0 rebounds per game and Byrd collected 6.6 caroms per game, and both players had multiple double-figure rebound games with Byrd registering six double-doubles (double figures in points and rebounds) on the season.

The Greyhounds played in the Mullen/Mitchell JC Blowout Jamboree in Fort Worth Oct. 5 for their first action of the season. Up next will be a scrimmage game tomorrow night agains Southwest Tennessee Community College.

Their last tune-up for the season is Saturday, Oct. 26, as they play in the Natural State Juco Jamboree in Conway, with their first regular season games in the Greyhound Tipoff Classic with games against North Lake College and Parkland College.

After their season was cut short due last year, the Lady Greyhounds have recruited nine newcomers and have one returning player for Head Coach Mercedes Corona.

Preseason stops include the Midwest Showcase in Lawrence, Kansas, this Saturday, and the JUCO Jamboree in Illinios next weekend before a home scrimmage against Rhodes College on Oct. 29.

The regular season opens on the road, as the Lady Greyhounds travel to Jackson State Community College in Jackson, Tennessee, Nov. 1, and they play their first home game at The Dog House on Monday, Nov. 4, against Copiah-Lincoln Community College.
