Avondale Ladies Auxiliary will be conducting its annual auction, Monday, Oct. 21 at 1001 Balfour, West Memphis.

Everyone is welcome and there will be refreshments served at 5 p.m. An auction will be held at 6:30 p.m.

Organizers say there will be an assorment of arts and crafts, geared toward the Christmas holidays. There will be Christian fellowship and plenty of food for all to enjoy.

• Community Prayer — Community of Prayer Service (COPS) will be holding another prayer service Saturday, Oct. 12 at Grace Baptist Church, 1399 Missouri St., West Memphis, beginning at 10 a.m. The service is being held “in the wake of increased crime and drug issues.” Everyone is welcome to attend.

• Open Invitation from Old St. Paul — The Old St. Paul Church family, once again, invies one and all to come worship with them this Sunday. Sunday School will begin at 8:45 a.m. followed by worship srvice at 10 a.m. Pastor Anthony will be preaching the word of God. Let it be known, parents, there will not be children’s church or youth services this sunday, Oct. 13.

Host pastor will be Rev.

Frederick S. Anthony.

• Locust Grove Anniversary Celebration — The family of the Locus Grove M.B. Church, Hughes, will be hosting their 125th church anniversary, Sunday, Oct. 13, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Guest speaker will be Rev. Alvin Bailey, Jr., from the Hughes Chapel M.B. Church in Hughes.

Master of ceremonies will be Sister Belinda Joshaway from St. John M.B. Church in Hughes.

Rev. Pastor Cornell Jackson welcomes one and all to participate in the celebration.

• ABC Call for Support — The Arkansas Baptist Church, 1621 Martin Luther King Dr., Little Rock, is in need of support.

Dr. C. Dennis Edwards, CMBSC president and Sister Jeanne Moss, CMBC Women’s president, are asking for donations that include hygiene products for men and women, clothes, shoes and new under garments. Also needed are bed sheets, comforters and pillows. Food products can also be donated such as dry food, crackers, noodles and can food, as well as school supplies. Drop off dates is Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at 702 Woods St., West Memphis. Checks or money orders should be made out to Arkansas Baptist College.

• Pastor’s Aid Program — Members of Unity Baptist Church, 719 S. 11th St., West Memphis, are having a pastor’s aid program this Sunday beginning at 2:30 p.m. Guests will be Pastor Stephen Chitman and the Second St. John Church family. Host pastor will be Dr. Herman Coleman The public is invited to attend.

• Women’s Say Program — St. Luke Church in Earle will host Annual Women’s Day on Sunday, Oct. 13, beginning at 2:30 p.m. The guest speaker will be Evangelist Kendra Williams of Southaven, Mississippi. Rev. Darris Sims is host Pastor and everyone is invited to attend.

• Harvest Day Program — Members of the New Mt. Pleasant M.B. Church, 524 Will Lewis Rd., Proctor, will be celebrating their Harvest Day Program this Sunday beginning at 3 p.m. Minister Anita Curtis of New Mt. Pleasant Church will be the special speaker.

Guests include: First Baptist M.B. Church of Edmonson, Kingdom Authority Ministries and Walnut Grove M.B. Church of Hughes. Everyone is invited to come and celebrat the special occasion. The program is sponsored by Sister Jenette Miller and Minister Jacqaueline Lewis.

• 91st Anniversary Celebration — Members of New Saint Paul Baptist Church, 326 S. 8th St., West Memphis, under the leadership of Pastor Charles Clark, Sr., will observe their 91st Church Anniversary this Sunday, beginning at 2 p.m. Guest speaker will be Rev. Ricky Reel with Shady Grove Baptist Church, West Memphis. Rev. Clark is inviting one and all to help celebrate this special anniversary.

• Hope of the Delta Event — Hope of the Delta, a Christ-based, life-affirming ministry, with a new office in West Memphis, will be hosting a special fundraiser banquet, Tuesday, Oct. 15, at Wyatt’s cafe in Crawfordsville. Hope of the Delta is a free pregnancy center assisting men and women in crisis.

The center was established in West Memphis in light of the fact that Crittenden County has the third highest abortion rate per capita in Arkansas. The life-affirming ministry operates solely on donations from churches of all denominations along with their congregations, area businesses, community organizations and individuals. With a new office in West Memphis and an ultra- sound machine in place, the ministry is establishing itself and empowering men and women to choose spiritual life for themselves, physical lives for their babies, and an abundant life for their families.
