Local learning centers part of Game & Fish Commission grant

By the Evening Times News Staff

news@theeveningtimes.com Students at three local schools will have the opportunity to experience the Great Outdoors thanks to a new program.

Steudlein Learning Center, the Herbert Carter Global Community Magnet and Richland Elementary School are three of the more than 250 schools around the state, where students will have a chance to to learn more about archery, fishing and other outdoor programs due to a recent grant spearheaded by the Arkansas Economic Development Commission Division of Rural Services.

ADEC officials presented $532,602 in grants to districts across the state on Jan. 9.

The funding comes from Arkansas Game and Fish Commission fines collected in counties from hunting and fishing violations, AEDC officials said.
