Marion Man Faced Drug Charges in Craighead County

JONESBORO – A Marion resident is facing charges for possession of drugs and firearms in a case stemming from a call from a Jonesboro McDonald’s.

21-year-old Savion Hayes appeared in court in Jonesboro on Jan. 4 about an incident that happened on Dec. 15. Officers were sent to Mc-Donald’s on Red Wolf Boulevard for a call about three men in a car flashing a weapon in the parking lot. When they pulled behind the vehicle, Hayes jumped out of the vehicle and tried to get inside the business but was stopped.

Hayes is facing felony charge for simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, felony charge for possession of a scheduled VI substance with purpose to deliver and a felony charge for theft by receiving a firearm less than $2,500. ***

Two Dead, Four Injured in

Weekend Crash

CLEBURNE COUNTY – A two-vehicle crash in Cleburne County has claimed the lives of two people and injured four others, according to a preliminary fatal crash summary from the Arkansas State Police.

The crash happened around 3:40 p.m. Jan. 5 on Highway 25 in the Tumbling Shoals community.

The two people killed were minors, whose names were not released. The people who were injured were taken to hospitals in Little Rock due to their injuries.

A 2002 Toyota Tacoma was going north on Highway 25 while a 2017 Ford F-150 was going south when the crash happened. The weather was clear and the road was dry at the time of the crash, according to Arkansas State Police reports. ^^^

Deputy Fired Following Release of Footage of Dog Shooting

FAULKNER COUNTY — A Faulkner County Sheriff's deputy was fired from his job Saturday after a video surfaced of him shooting a small dog.

According to a report from the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office posted to Facebook, the deputy was relieved of duty after an investigation into the nature of the footage.

The post adds the investigation will be forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for further review.

The video shows the deputy speaking with the homeowner after a woman called, claiming the dog was barking and was trying to attack her.

According to a GoFund-Me page, the dog is alive, with donations towards her medical bills already around coming in to around $1,000.
