2 shot at WM laundromat

One arrest made, police still investigating

ralphhardin@gmail.com West Memphis police investigators are still working a case from the weekend in which two people were injured by gunfire.

at the laundromat at the comer of Avalon and Broadway,” reported West Memphis Police Department Enforcement and Criminal Investigation Division Commander Capt. Joe Baker. “Two people were struck by gunfire in the incident.”

Baker said one of the victims was the intended target, the other was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

“One was actually involved in the altercation and the other was a bystander who had no involvement,” said Baker.

One person, Courtney Cosby 22, of West Memphis, was arrested at the scene for his involvement in the shooting. Cosby is charged with committing a terroristic act and a shooting that causes physical injury as well as tampering with physical evidence.

He is currently in custody at the Crittenden County Detention Center and is expected to be arraigned today.

“We have identified additional suspects that were involved who were not located at the scene,” said Baker, “and we are currently working on obtaining arrest warrants.”

Both victims were reported to be in stable condition.
