— The Earle Bulldogs defeated the England Lions in the opening round of the Class 2A State Tournament last Friday Night by a score of 30-14 (game recap in the Tuesday, Nov. 13 online edition of the Times). This week, the Bulldogs travel to Salem to take on the Greyhounds in second-round playoff action. Game time is 7 p.m. in Salem.

— The WMCS Black Knights fell to the Tunica Academy Blue Devils on the road last Friday night by a score of 38-18 (game recap in the Tuesday, Nov. 13 online edition of the Times), ending the Black Knights’ Class 1A MAIS playoff run.

• Upward Basketball — Registration is now open for the Marion First Baptist Church 2018-2019 Upward Basketball Season and Cheerleading. Early registration is $90 per child. After Nov. 23, the cost is $100.

The league is open to boys and girls in kindergarten through 8th grade. Every basketball player must attend an evaluation. Every cheerleader must attend an orientation.
