It was a blue wave in Crittenden County as Democrats swept all of the top county offices — except one.

Sheriff Mike Allen easily cruised to re-election, while Democrat Matt Thompson was elected as the new County Treasurer, and Republican John Rech took the Justice of the Peace District 12 seat.

Allen, who has served as Sheriff since 2010, defeated challenger Rob French 9,502 to 2,402 to earn a sixth term as the county’s top cop.

“I am very humbled by it all,” Allen said.

Thompson cruised past Devin Griggs 7,616 to 4,255 to fill the Treasurer’s office, which was left vacant after Charlie Suiter stepped down to return to the family business.

The lone Republican to win county election, John Rech, edged Cythia Lucas 622 to 593 in the JP 12 seat being vacated by Robert Thorne, who was serving the remaining term of Ronnie Sturch after he resigned to become the county 911 director and was ineligible to run for a full term.

Rech congratulated Lucas on running a strong cam- paign and said he is eager to join the Quorum Court.

“I want to thank the voters for their trust,” Rech said.

“I look forward to serving the people of District 12 and all of Crittenden County.”

In other county races, William Wolfe won another term as coroner defeating Dennis Smith 7,314 to 4,575. Circuit Clerk Terry Hawkins, who ran unopposed, garnered 10,959 votes.
