Red Sox up 2-0 on Dodgers

Boston in command as World Series heads out west to L. A.

ralphhardin@gmail.com After winning 108 games during the regular season, there’s no indication that the Boston Red Sox are going to stop playing top-tier baseball in the postseason.

Over the course of the first two games of the 2018 World Series, the Red Sox look poised to win their fourth World Series in 15 years.

Boston has had the Dodgers’ number in the Fall Classic. In Game 1, it was the long ball that the BoSox used to grab the “W.” It was never as close at the 8-4 final score would suggest. The Red Sox led the whole game, with a three-run homer from Manny Machado sealing the deal in the 7th inning.

In Game 2, it was the David Price show. Price and the Red Sox bullpen limited the Dodgers to just three hits all night, while Boston’s bats delivered an early run to take the pressure off and plated three more fifth.

While the Red Sox are clearly in the driver’s seat, it’s not over by any means. The series now shifts to the West Coast where the Dodgers will have home field and warmer weather.

But history is not on L.A.’s side. In all, 43 of the 54 teams that have been up 2-0 in the World Series, like this year's Red Sox, have gone on to win it, including each of the past 10.

But Walker Buehler, who pitched the divisionclenching Game 163 for the Dodgers will be on the mound. If L.A. can find a way to win, they’ll have a pair of aces on the mound at home for Games 4 and 5.

Game 3 of the World Series airs tonight on FOX. Game time is 7 p.m.
