Marion P&Z approves Bella Terra subdivision plat

Development would add new lots along Highway 77

news@theeveningtimes.com Marion Planning and Zoning Commission has given tentative approval to the latest residential development phase in Bella Terra.

City Planner Ed Cain said the commission reviewed the preliminary plat for the fifth addition at its October meeting which will include seven new lots.

The lots are located between Highway 77, Alta Vista, and Currie by Brunetti Park.

“It’s that kind of oblong piece of property there,” Cain said.

Cain said the lots are close to but not in the main area where the pecan trees are located by the Pirani house.

“It’s part of the pecan grove, but not the main pecan grove,” Cain said. “The main pecan grove is located south of Alta Vista. This is across the road from Alta Vista. But it’s not the main part.”

P& Z approved the preliminary plat but will await further design details at the next meeting in November. “There were several questions about the design — mostly about drainage — and some other things,” Cain said. “A lot of those questions could not be answered until there is more work on the design. The will have to come back in over the normal course of our approval.”

Cain said the lot sizes fit the current R-1 single family residential zoning.

“The minimum lot widths are 95 feet and the depth of them are about 147 feet.
