Kick off America’s birthday celebration with fireworks and family fun at Tilden Rodgers Park

ralphhardin@gmail.com Get a jump on celebrating our nation’s independence with the return of the City of West Memphis’s annual Freedom Fest.

Tilden Rodgers Park is the place to be tonight for the annual celebration, as music and fanfare will fill the air. Vendors representing local charitable causes and nonprofit organizations will line the north end of the lake in the early evening. And, of course, an impressive fireworks display will make the festival pop after dark (around 9 p.m.).

The festival starts at 5 p.m., with fun, food and music. Kids’ activities like face painting will be found under the many canopies that pop up along the lakeside. Taste some snow cones, funnel cakes, barbecue, and cold soft drinks or hot dogs.

There will be live music from Incredible Infinity Band, Reba Russell, and Kenneth Jackson.

The event is organized under the West Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau and funded by the Advertising and Promotions Commission. Freedom Fest draws people from around the Mid-South region as folks will fill the park tonight to watch the largest fireworks display in Eastern Arkansas. Admission is free.
