Kristen Catt named MSD Teacher of the Year

Avondale Elementary kindergarten teacher recognized for her educational efforts

ralphhardin@gmail.com Avondale Elementary School’s Kristen Catt has been named the 2017-2018 Marion School District Teacher of the Year.

Catt is nearing the end of her fifth year of teaching kindergarten in the Marion School District. She is a proud graduate of Marion High School and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Arkansas State University.

She is married with two kids, Lee and Madi Grace.

Asked about her teaching philosophy after being informed she was being recognized as teacher of the year, Catt said, “I teach all subjects and teach the whole child. However, what’s most important to me is making sure that every child knows they’re smart and loved.”

The Marion School District also recognized teachers from each of the district’s other campuses.

Teacher of the Year at Marion Elementary is Elizabeth Franklin, Teacher of the Year at Marion Interme- diate School is Judy Morris, the Marion Middle School Teacher of the Year is Lentisha Brown, the Teacher of the Year at Marion Junior High School is Becky Adkins, and the Marion High School Teacher of the Year is Anne Creekmore.
