WM School District The Academies of West Memphis Senior Prom was last weekend, but before the Class of 2018 and their dates hit the scene of the celebration, the West Memphis Police Department, West Memphis Fire Department and local emergency responders conducted a “Prom Promise” mock crash presentation to remind the students of the dangers of driving under the influcence of alcohol and/or drugs and texting while behind the wheel.

Also at the event, AWM senior Ryan Lewis was announced as the winner of an essay contest concerning driving while drinking or texting before the school's senior prom. She received a scholarship presented by West Memphis Assistant Fire Chief Jeff Jones.
