Marion schools holding Magnet School Application Day Saturday afternoon

Preview night a hit for Marion Magnets launching for 2018- 2019 school year

www.msd3.org For months now, an unrelenting momentum has saturated Patriot Nation and the Marion community.

Magnet Preview Night was no different. Parents, students, and community members got a chance to witness that enthusiasm up close on April 2, 3, and 5 at Marion Performing Arts Center.

Principals, staff, and faculty introduced each of the district's three new K-6 Magnet schools in a fun, creative way that provided a window into each magnet's theme. Basically, an idea of what to expect when the 2018-2019 school year christens the MSD magnets: Marion Math, Science, and Technology Magnet, Marion Visual & Performing Arts Magnet, and Herbert Carter Global Community Magnet.

Marion High School Jazz Ensemble, cheerleaders, and other student athletes and organizations entertained guests in the lobby before the previews began. There was standing room only, something that far surpassed the expectations of the district and confirms the aforementioned exhilaration.

Judging from the crowds' very positive reactions to the “show”, the stunning live and video productions left those in attendance with the impression of an over-the-top professionally produced program, but the entire “show and tell” was completely an in-house effort led by Lynn Lampkin, Director of Communications, who worked closely with building principals and staff for weeks to pull off what some parents called the biggest party in Crittenden County.

“We believe learning and teaching should be fun!

The secret to the Marion success is simple: Our bright students and passionate teachers are at the helm of every decision we make.

We take the time to recognize, value, and appreciate them,” said Lampkin Each magnet team, #TEAMVPA, #TEAMGC, and #TEAMMST, worked more than six weeks on its preview night production and now the competition is taking on new heights as principals anxiously wait to see the number of student registrants per magnet school.
