Former Arkansas Speaker of the House Lloyd McCuiston celebrates milestone birthday

Friends, family and wellwishers gathered at ASU Mid-South this past Sunday to honor and celebrate the life and work of former Arkansas House of Representatives Speaker of the House Lloyd McCuiston for his 100th birthday.

“Happy birthday to former Speaker Lloyd McCuiston,” said ASU Mid-South Chancellor Debra West.

“Thank you, sir, for all that you’ve done for your country and for the great state of Arkansas. And a special thank you for being a champion for education and a driving force in bringing our community’s college to Crittenden County!”

Dozens of folks gathered in the Reynolds Center to visit McCuiston and wish him a happy birthday. Several shared kind words and memories of working with McCuiston over the years.

“Happy 100th Birthday, Mr. Speaker,” said fellow former speaker and current A-State Vice-President for Governmental Relations Shane Broadway “Great to join family, friends and the community this afternoon at ASU Mid-South in West Memphis to celebrate.”
