Watch party today to cheer on the ASU Mid- South men’s basketball team as they play in first- ever NJCAA national championship tournament

ASU Mid-South The ASU Mid-South Greyhounds (26-5) will face off against No. 1ranked Cuyahoga Community College Challengers from Cleveland, Ohio (291) today at 11 a.m. ASU Mid-South is ranked No. 13 in the division and received a No. 14 seed. Cuyahoga received a #3 seed. The game will be a Round of 16 match-up in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Danville, Illinois.

The Greyhounds earned a 68-66 victory over Metropolitan Community College- Penn Valley Scouts on March 10 to win the NJCAA District XIII Championship in Kansas City, Missouri. The win gives ASU Mid-South its first-ever appearance in the NJCAA Division II National Tournament held March 20-24 in Danville.

The Greyhounds have set a new standard with a series of firsts this season including the most victories in a season, best single-season record, first national ranking (currently ranked #13), first time to win consecutive region championships, first district championship, and first time to qualify for the NJCAA National Tournament.

Following the showdown with Cuyahoga, the Greyhounds will play again on Thursday (at 6 p.m. with a win and Thursday at 3 p.m.

with a loss), so either way the Greyhounds will have a day off before their next game. The national semifinals are slated for Friday, March 23, with the Division II National Championship game at 7:30 p.m.

If you’d like to watch the game, ASU Mid-South is hosting a watch party on in the Marion Berry Renewable Energy Center, Room 136. The public is invited to attend.

The National Tournament features the winners of each of the NJCAA's 16 districts playing in a straight bracket format for the National Championship. Losers of firstround games play in an 8-team bracket for 7th place, losers of second- round games play out a 4-team bracket for 5th place, and losers of the semifinals play each other for 3rd place while the two remaining teams without a tournament loss vie for the national title. All tournament games will be played at the Mary Miller Center on the campus of Danville Area Community College.
