Annual exhibit shows off therapy patients’ works now through March 13

From DeltaARTS

www.deltaarts.org DeltaARTS is proud to partner with ASU Mid-South and Mid-South Health Systems to host the annual Mid-South Health Systems art show, entitled Art & Soul: A Creative Journey Towards Recovery. This show consists of a collection of drawings and paintings and other mixed media that Mid-South Health System clients have been working on during the year.

“Having this art exhibition provides an opportunity for our clients to give back to the community and a way to offset the stigma that is often associated with mental illness. We believe creating art helps with self-esteem and the management of symptoms related to mental illness while providing an independent source of income for those willing to work on their skills,” Kathy Daniel, Mid-South Health Systems Art Specialist for Psychotherapy.

“Please join us for this inspiring and poignant exhibit opening. It will touch your soul to view these works of art and read the clients’ artist statements,” said DeltaARTS executive director Amelia Barton. “You will also have the opportunity to purchase pieces to add to your collection for very reasonable prices. The proceeds go directly to the clients which is so affirming for them realize their work is valued both artistically and monetarily.”

The fifth annual Art & Soul Art Show: A Creative Journey Toward Recovery is on display at the ASU Mid-South Donald W.

Reynolds Center, 2000 W.

Broadway, in West Memphis. The exhibit, curated by DeltaARTS runs through Tuesday, March 13.

Vincent Van Gogh’s “Self Portrait With Bandaged Ear” served as inspiration for many of the artists in this year’s “Art & Soul” exhibit, on display now at the Reynolds Center at ASU Mid-South.
