A large section of West Memphis spent Thursday morning in the dark after part of the city lost power when a tractor-trailer had a run-in with an Entergy transformer on Dabbs Road. Above: Police directed traffic at Missouri and Broadway during the power outage. Businesses could not run cash registers, gas stations couldn’t pump fuel, and teachers and students were conducting class by window light until power was restored. (Story on Page 3)
