Longtime administrative assistant to the Treasurer making bid for office in May primary

Jane Coltharp, Administrative Assistant to the County Treasurer, announced today that she will be a democratic candidate for County Treasurer in the May primary election.

“I have been fortunate enough to be employed by Crittenden County for over 27 years,” Jane said. “For 22 of those years, I have served as Administrative Assistant to the County Treasurer.” In 2014, Coltharp also served as Interim County Treasurer for 9 months while the position was vacant.

Since 1995, Coltharp has handled the day to day operation of the County Treasurer's Office. Jane has been responsible for making sure that the financial accounting of your tax monies was done in a fiduciary manner and in accordance with the specifications of the State Audit Department. She is responsible for seeing that money belonging to the cities, towns, and school districts is distributed to those entities in a timely and accurate manner. Not only does she handle the Treasurer's operations, Jane also makes revenue and expense projections. Finally, in cooperation with the County Judge as well as other county officials, she helps build the county budget that is adopted by the Quorum Court each year.

In 2004, Jane played a key role in designing and modifying the current financial system used by the county today. She not only understands the system, but also helped design it for other offices. Her extensive knowledge and experience has been instrumental in solving problems for the entire county where the system is in use.

Beyond her duties in the Treasurer's Office, Coltharp also administers several insurance plans for the county. These include Crittenden County's employee health insurance plan as well as the county's property and casualty insurance plan. Her efforts have contributed to keeping the cost down and ensured the best benefits are available for the county employees.

Coltharp has lived in Crittenden County, Arkansas, for nearly 40 years. Jane resides in Marion where she raised both her son Jeff and daughter Jennifer.

“I have spent nearly all of my professional life training for this position and this opportunity. I am confident

there is no other individual that is more

qualified to serve as your County Treasurer other than myself. I ask for your support so that I may continue to serve the people of this county.”
