Mr. Greenberry Squire “Bill” Weston

Mr. Greenberry Squire “Bill” Weston of Harrisburg, formerly of West Memphis and Cherry Valley, departed this life on Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at the NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro, at the age of 83.

He was born December 16, 1933 in Lutz, Tennessee, the son of the late George Thomas Weston and Myrtle Lutisha Steele Weston.

He was a 1953 graduate of Tyronza High School. He married Mary Cathern Meeks on June 13, 1954 and they enjoyed 63 years together. He was an automotive mechanic most of his life and later had the opportunity to become a mechanic instructor for Federal Express. He retired from Federal Express as a Senior GSE Instructor after 16 years of service. He loved to hunt and fish and spend time in the outdoors. He also owned and operated a small engine repair shop in Harrisburg for many years. He was a former CPR instructor and a defensive driving instructor. In 2004, he began helping his son Mark at Weston Funeral Service and loved being able to serve families in that capacity. He never met a stranger and was always willing to help out anyone in need. He loved his garden and spent most of his spare time there. He felt so blessed to be able to grow produce and give it to people that could benefit from it. He was a faithful member of the Harrisburg Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Vickie Brasfield; three brothers, Aaron, Harold and Carthel; and one sister, Aldean King.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Weston of the home; four children, Margaret Lewis (Dennis) of Jonesboro, James Weston (Shera) of Athens, Alabama, Mark Weston (Tunene) of Harrisburg, and Tim Weston (Marietta) of Paragould; six sisters, Dorothy Magee of Bonne Terra, Missouri, Artie McGlawn of Cedar Hill, Missouri, Ruie Harmon of Marion, Betty Lewis of Petal, Mississippi, Mavis Easley of Grand Blanc, Michigan and Edie Garner of Cedar Hill, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, Michael David Jones (Jennifer), Debbie Marie Melton (Gary), Jenifer Joy Loar (Jarrod), Kimberly Maria Williams (Mark), Craig Thomas Weston (Amanda), Andrew Nelson, Amanda Kay Coats (Derrick), Christina Renee Simmons (Scott), Anthony Squire Weston (Lacey), Tona Marie Crawford (Landon), Lafe Andrew Weston (Ariel), Timothy Jared Weston (Ahzahdeh), and Mykah Nicole Ellison (John David); twenty-nine great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

Funeral services are set for 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Gregg-Weston Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisburg, with Mr. Lyndal Dale officiating.

Interment will follow in Harrisburg Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home Tuesday evening, 5 to 7 p.m.
