‘ What’s your favorite holiday dish?’

Locals weigh in on seasonal culinary delights

ralphhardin@gmail.com There are some foods that just go with their holidays.

Barbecue on the Fourth of July, Greens and blackeyed peas on New Year’s Day, and of course, turkey and dressing for Thanksgiving.

But there are plenty of other holiday favorites out there. Pies and potatoes, cakes and casseroles… from hams to yams, everyone looks forward to those special holiday foods.

Family recipes are held in highest regard, with many a Grandma keeping her “pinch of this and a dash of that” secrets close to the vest. When the in-laws and outlaws gather around the dinner table, some go for the traditional dishes, while trendy new food fads come and go.
