World AIDS Day

Observed each year on December 1, World AIDS Day is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV, and remember those who have died. Started in 1988, World AIDS Day was the first ever global health day. There will be a special event on Friday, Dec. 1, from 3 to 5 p.m., at the West Memphis Public Library, 213 N. Avalon, in West Memphis. The rally is sponsored by Melvin Watson, Community Connector of Northeast Arkansas. For more information, call (870) 702-6614, in partnership with the Arkansas Department of Health. This Year's Theme is “Increasing Impact Through Transparency, Accountability, and Partnerships.” The rally will include guest speakers, refreshments, information booths, door prizes and more.
