West Memphis Police Department looking for local applicants to join its ranks

“To those that are truly interested in making a difference within our community: Here is your opportunity.”

The West Memphis Police Department is holding a Recruiting Event aimed at finding a number of new recruits to join their local law enforcement agency and help make their home community a better place.

The first recruiting drive will be held on Thursday, Sept. 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., on the ASU Mid-South campus, at the Reynolds Center Rotunda.

There will be two additional events for those who can’t make the first one, on Thursday, Sept. 21, and Thursday, Sept. 28, at the same location and time.

The WMPD employment package offers competitive pay, free health insurance, a 14 day a month schedule, 20 paid sick leave days, three-day weekends every other week, three weeks paid vacation after the first year, and local training.

The West Memphis Police Department conducts its own in-house police academy.

Requirements for employment:

• Must be a citizen of the United States;

• Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent; • Must be 21 years of age;

• Must possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license or a valid driver’s license from another state that can be converted to an Arkansas driver’s license;

• Have uncorrected vision of 20/100 corrected to 20/20 or better.

• Pass a physical examination; • Pass a psychological examination; • Pass a very restrictive drug test.
