New Marion superintendent to address the public to kick off school year

Dr. Glen Fenter, new Superintendent for the Marion School District will be presenting his vision for Marion schools in an address to the public.

Fenter recently began his first year as superintendent, replacing the retiring Don Johnston.

In June of 2015, Dr. Glen Fenter became the lead of workforce development efforts in the Mid-South as President of the Greater Memphis Alliance for a Competitive Workforce (GMACW). The alliance was created to build a pipeline of high-skilled workers to meet the needs of businesses throughout the region.

Prior to that, Fenter served as president of ASU Mid-South (then Mid-South Community College) from its inception in 1992 until stepping down to take the GMACW position. Before that, he was principal of West Memphis High School, assistant principal of Fort Smith Northside High School and a teacher and coach at Alma High School.

The community is invited to come out on Monday Aug. 21, to the Marion Performing Arts Center, beginning at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
