OBITUARY

Roy L. Strong, 100, of Longwood, Florida, formerly of West Memphis, departed this life on June 27, 2017. Strong was born Jan. 13, 1917, reared on a farm in West Tenn., graduated from Gleason High School and attended business college in Paris, Tenn.. He served 3 years in the U.S. Army that took him to the European Theater. He was employed by McKenzie Banking Co. for 4 years, then moved to West Memphis, Arkansas, where he served 32 years at First National Bank. He was a sweet and gentle man and will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

Roy was preceded in passing by his parents, John and Annie Strong, and his sister. He is survived by his wife, Lois E. Strong; his daughters Elaine Rollins (Mike) and Pamela Meggers (Steve); his stepchildren, Scott Smith (Diane), Troy Smith (Anita), and Susan Scott; grandchildren Marshall Meggers (Ashley), Laura Mangum (Scott), Carey Stanteen (Larry), and Matt Rollins (Kayla); stepgrandchildren Amber Davidson (Will), Beth Stephenson (Tim), Tim Smith (Marie), Becca Smith, Mike Smith (Alicia), and Vanessa Scott; great-grandchildren Macy Mangum, Haylee Mangum, Zac Mangum, Pierce Rollins, Owen Meggers, Madeline Meggers, Chelsea Stanteen, Cade Stanteen, Logan Stanteen, Nathan Stanteen, and one on the way; and step-greatgrandchild Corbin Stephenson; as well as many other extended family members and friends.

Visitation was held at First Baptist Church of Sweetwater, in Longwood, Florida, on Friday, June 30, with services at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Comforter in Altamonte Springs, Florida.
