Southland fund allocations came before West Memphis City Council members for distribution during the final May meeting. Two revenue streams were up for distribution. The disaster relief funds were put off for two weeks.

“We have Southland disaster relief days funds,” said Councilman Tracy Catt.

“Traditionally they are split between the Good Neighbor Center and the Delta Neighborhood. Council may move now or we can wait and do it in two weeks.”

First term Councilman Wayne Croom had some questions about how it all worked and asked for the decision to be put off for two weeks while he pursued answers. Half the city council and Mayor Bill Johnson declared their intentions to pass along their allocation from fractional breakage on racing tickets. The distribution went to select 501(c)3 causes in the city.

• Mayor Bill Johnson sent $150 to Boy Scouts, $100 dollars each to Bethel AME Church and the Cancer Society, with the balance of the allotment at his disposal, $208.26, going to Mt. Olive M.B. Church.

• Councilman James Pulliaum sent $200 to families in Transition and $458.27 to Bethel AME Church youth.

• Councilman Willis Mondy kept his personal custom giving the entire proceeds at his disposal, $658.26, to the Wonder City Boys & Girls Club.

• Councilman James Holt sent the same full share to the Missouri Street Church of Christ.

• Councilman Marco Mc-Clendon split his share down the middle sending $329.13 to Brewer’s Martial Arts Program and the other half to DEERS low income tax service.

• Councilman Wayne Croom crafted a five way split, $198.69 to the Crittenden

County Single Parent

Scholarship Fund, $109.58 for the Wonder City Boys & Girls Club, $150 to Hope House Ministries, $100 to Steudlein Learning Center, and $100 for CASA.

The remaining council members will distribute their allocation of the funds at a later date.
