The Crittenden County Museum fielded a resignation at their last meeting.

Three year Marion resident, energetic volunteer and board member at the museum, Thomas Machnitzki handed in his letter of resignation.

Machnitzki had been with the museum in Earle for two years.

Social media following for the museum exploded under Machnitzki’s work.

When he started at the museum about 350 people followed it on Facebook.

Followers increased by ten fold now standing at 3,600. Machnitzki took his turn as a docent and drove public relations through daily posts about interesting people and local history.

“I met some amazing people in the last two years, not only my fellow board members but also museum visitors and new Facebook friends that I went with on adventures exploring our county history,” said Machnitzki.

“It was a great time and I sure will miss it.”

Machnitzki along with Director Tamara Berry reached out to the news media too, always publicizing museum events in the Times. Last August the board tried a first ever Museum Day festival that proved popular drawing vendors, good causes and several hundred people from all over the county to Main Street in Earle.

“Thanks to everybody and especially the Times who did a great job promoting the events at the Crittenden County Museum,” said Machnitzki.

Machnitzki moved to Little Rock in December and has taken up work in the finance department of Dassault Falcon Jet Company and, not surprisingly, is already looking to volunteer at another local museum.

The county has operated the museum since 2014 in the former Missouri Pacific Railroad Depot.

Located at 112 Main Street, Earle, the hours of operation are Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Sunday 1 to 4 p.m.
