Marion High School Theatre attended the State Thespian Festival in Jonesboro Feb. 911. During this festival, students got a chance to work with professional artists in the areas of makeup, producing, acting, dance, hip-hop and aerial acrobatics. Five seniors: Samuel Scott, Chase Durfee, Evan McHenry, Dyquiria Perry and Taylor Shields, participated in the State Thespian auditions and brought home a total of $30,000 in scholarships from ASU, Northwestern State University in Louisiana, Arkansas Northeastern and KD Conservatory in Dallas. The students also performed “Skid Row” from Little Shop of Horrors in the Group Musical competition, under the musical and choreography direction of Starr Hardgrove. The theatre program also hosted a student-led Comic-Con on Feb. 24 and 25 at the MPAC, and a mainstage show of “Romeo and Juliet: Civil War” in April. For more information, or to contribute to the program, call 870-739-5152 or email marionarpac@ msd3.org for more information.
