MIS Book Drive

Students at Marion Intermediate School dug deep into pockets, piggy banks and asked parents spare change in a drive to fund the purchase of novels for their classrooms and competing for cash card for book purchases. The drive at MIS netted more than $1,700 in the one-week campaign that had students bringing in pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters and any change on specific days. Raising the most money for the fourth grade was Christie George’s class. Her crew brought in $162.32 during the drive. Lauren Frazier’s fifth-grade class reached the top with $118.38, edging out Donna Dillahunty’s class by $1.07. Each top class earned a card worth $150 to purchase novels for their class. Any class that raised at least $100 was awarded a $100 card, $50 raised won a $50 card and class raising less than $50 was awarded a card valued at $20 for book purchases. Students could also earn Scholastic Bucks up to $5 for good behavior that was used at the Book Fair at the school.
