The Marion Junior High Patriots defeated the Wonder Junior High Lions last week

The Marion Junior High Patriots bested the Wonder Junior High Lions Thursday night 44-30.

Smothering the Lions, the Junior Patriots did not allow a single point in a first quarter which Marion won 8-0.

Wonder did get on the board in the second quarter with a total of 10 points, but 4 first half points apiece by Mayki Boyce, Jordan Mitchell and Detrick Reeves helped boost the Junior Patriots to a 16-10 lead at the break.

The Marion team resumed dominating defense in the third stanza, holding the Lions to only two baskets (both three-pointers).

During the third period, Reeves and Ontaveous Jefferson pumped in 6 and 4 points, respectively, which carried the Junior Patriots to a double-digit lead going into the final stanza.

Six points by Boyce and 4 more by Jefferson, respectively, highlighted a 12point final quarter and helped allow the Junior Patriots to seal the victory.

Boyce and Reeves both pumped in 12 points apiece for the Marion team in the win. Jefferson pushed in 10 points for the Junior Patriots and Mitchell chipped in 8 in the victory. Darrius Waterford also chipped in, scoring 4 points in the victory for the Junior Patriots.
